Poop in the Tub: He Says/ She Says

Taken before this conversation
Funny how many of our conversations revolve around poop these days. Here's our most recent one...

He says: And by the way, thanks for leaving poop in the tub. I noticed it when I took a shower.
She says: It wasn't mine.
He says: I know but it was still gross.
She says: Well I tried to scoop it up but I must have missed some.

Mini Mod #3: Thrift Store Dress and GIANT Bows!

I can't believe I haven't posted since Monday. But I kind of can. Especially since I've worked about 100 hours the past two weeks and seriously thought I was pregnant. It would have been a big shock to you and me but I'm happy to say I'm not with-spawn. I did buy 50 pregnancy test on Amazon for $9 to keep any future freakouts at bay.

Anyway, welcome to my third week of Mini Mod posts! It's a chance to show off your kiddos sporting your favorite styles, and share where you shop. Link up below so others can visit you. If you want, link back here or grab the button to do so more can find it and link up too.

Lil' J may be getting some more teeth, or something because she did not have a happy day at school today. Her teacher told me she cried most of the day which broke my heart. She was grumpy in the morning and I worried she may have a bad day. I dropped off some milk halfway through the day and just missed her in the hallway (purposely, if she had seen me, her pleasant mood would have turned sour).

Even though I'm working just as much I feel like I see her less. Maybe it's because when my husband was with her it felt like I was with her. I could call when I wanted, received picture texts, skype with her, or even drop by. Now I go a full eight hours without seeing her.

I've been trying to make our time together more worthwhile. The weather cooled about 20 degrees the past week and we've been outside almost every day since.

Labor Day we went to a mini water park with some friends of ours, and next week I want to take her on her first bike ride.

We've also enjoyed going out and playing at parks. Her cute little striped dress is from Savers. It was only $2.99. I am extremely picky and pretty thrifty with her clothes, and when I saw this dress I couldn't pass it up. Then it happened to match this bow perfectly!
I didn't think I would like over-the-top bows but Izzy Diane's are just stunning. We have three! She wore this pink and brown one to school this week and got so many compliments. You wouldn't believe it but she kept it on all day.

People keep telling me "Enjoy it while she wears the bows, soon she'll be pulling them off like my daughter did" but ya know what? So far so good. Maybe putting them on her from an hour after birth had something to do with it. I dunno.

Hope you'll link up your cuties again this week! I enjoyed looking through yours last week. One of my favorites was this little cutie on Being Mrs. Jones. Stop by and show some love to this adorable little one and her mommy!

Lil' J goes through sippy cups like no other child I know. We always lose them and I can never seem to relocate them. Since she's so thrilled to be drinking out of a straw I got her one of those cool cups that has the straw the folds down, and it's spill proof. ... Well, her teacher told me she wasn't drinking much for a few days and when I got home I tried to drink out of her cup and couldn't get anything out!

I took apart the whole cup and straw but I couldn't get it to work again. I think it being spill-proof ended up making it too good. So good that you can't even drink out of it.

Luckily, she had another cup at school so she didn't die of thirst or anything, but I still felt bad.

Yesterday I got her some more cups with straws. These can and do spill out of the side of the straw, but she doesn't try to tip it over, and I usually just keep water in her cup anyway. She loves them so much she walked around with it all day yesterday, even taking it outside with us.

It's so weird seeing her do such "big girl" things. I call her a baby but she's obviously growing up.

Speaking of growing up. This dress she's wearing from My Baby Clothes Boutique is one she's going to have to grow in to. It caught my eye when I saw it in their shop but the smallest size was 2T. I figured she can wear it next summer, and with a little touch of mom's handy work she could wear it now. I just tied the back with some extra ribbon. It's still a tad long, but she can walk in it without tripping.

Everyone who leaves a comment on this post will be entered to win a $25 gift card to My Baby Clothes Boutique, which sells all sorta of baby clothes, baby headbands, baby hats, tutus, and more.

If you follow them on facebook, twitter, or subscribe to their news letter you get an extra entry (two for following on twitter) just leave an extra comment for each entry. Random.org will choose the winner September 13th or Lil' J will draw a random number from a hat. I'll announce the winner on my facebook page.

My grab button malfunctioned last week. So sorry. It should be working this time.

I'm a bad influence mom

It was hot. We had been taking pictures for half an hour, and you were in such a good mood. I wanted to make sure you went to bed that night thinking 'I had so much fun with mommy today.' So I loaded you in your car seat and we drove to the next park over. I heard it was cooler, and that there was some water you could play in.
The sun was setting when we got out of the car. If we were lucky we'd only have 15 minutes or so to play before it started to get dark. But I hadn't been there before and I didn't know how to get to the water.

We passed the fountain as we walked in and you leaned, reaching for it, trying to get out of my arms.

I jogged with you around the building and down the stairs but I couldn't see an entrance to the lake.

We ran back up the stairs near the fountain. I took off your pants, and after a quick glance around I let you loose. As I expected, you speed-crawled to the fountain and climbed right in.

At one point a man walked by--I'm assuming someone who works at the park--And said "After everyone goes home, I like to strip down to my underwear and climb in there too." I laughed and thanked my lucky stars he didn't kick us out. You were having so much fun (and I assumed he was kidding).

I couldn't help but snap pictures of the good time you were having. At one point my battery died and I brought you half way to the car with me while I grabbed my back up. I sat you down at the edge of the grass thinking you may follow me, instead you raced me back to the fountain. You were in a state of bliss.

But oh man, when it was time to go, you threw a fit. Arched back, jellyfish squirm and all. I felt bad for pulling you away from so much fun but it was past your bed time, and time to go home.
As we reached the car you had calmed down and rested your head on my shoulder. I kissed your wet hair and nose, and told you what I always tell you, time and time again. I love you.

Letting you play in the park fountain probably wasn't my best role-model moment. But it gave us a moment and memory I'll remember, hopefully forever.
